Yu Fei'an (于非闇, 1889-1959) was a renowned painter who specialized in elaborate floral and bird painting during the 20th century.

Born in Beijing, he started learning painting and calligraphy at a young age. He later served as an editor for an art column and worked as an art teacher for many years. During this period, Yu Fei'an had the opportunity to associate with celebrated artists of his time, such as Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, and Zhao Mengzhu. He not only learned from these contemporaries but also drew inspiration from the techniques of ancient masters from the Song and Yuan dynasties.

It was in his forties that Yu Fei'an began to focus on the elaborate floral and bird painting, ultimately developing his distinctive style. His works were executed in a highly refined, meticulously detailed Song dynasty style with vibrant and elegant colours.
