Jiang Tingxi (蒋廷锡 in Chinese,1669-1732), a native of Changshu, Jiangsu Province, was a highly regarded official, painter, scholar, and book collector. He was active during the Kangxi and Yongzheng reigns of the Qing Dynasty.
In painting, he excelled in depicting flowers and birds, using swift brushstrokes to capture the subject and achieving a natural harmony and lively spirit. He is regarded as the founder of the "Jiang School" of flower and bird painting.
