 Cui Bai (崔白 in Chinese, active in the 11th century) was a renowned court painter in the Northern Song dynasty. He served as an Attendant in the Painting Academy from 1078 to 1085. Cui Bai excelled in painting birds and flowers and established his unique style by using light colours, combining ideal sketches and meticulous painting (gongbi) harmoniously. This marked a significant departure from the traditional and standard Huang Quan style, known for its luxurious and magnificent characteristics.
